Don't see PDF ↔ Word, or image-to-vector (PNG → SVG)? We leave those out on purpose. They can't be done cleanly with free, on-device tools — the results are unreliable enough that we'd rather not ship them than hand you a broken file. Everything here is built to just work.

What FlipItFile is

FlipItFile is a set of free file converters that run entirely in your own browser. Drag a file in, and your device does the work — the image, video, audio, or PDF is read, converted, and handed back without ever being sent to a server. There's no account to create, no email to hand over, no watermark stamped on the result, and no upload progress bar, because there's nothing to upload. When you close the tab, nothing is left behind on our end — there is no "our end" that ever touches your file.

Why on-device matters

Most "free online converter" sites work by uploading your file to their servers, converting it there, and sending it back. That means a stranger's machine briefly holds your tax document, your client's photos, your kid's birthday video, or your unreleased audio. FlipItFile is built the opposite way. Each tool uses technology already in your browser — the Canvas API for images, WebAssembly builds of ffmpeg for audio and video, a local PDF engine for documents — so the conversion happens on the device in front of you. The practical upshot: it works on a plane with the Wi-Fi off, it's faster for large files because there's no round trip, and your private files stay private by design rather than by promise.

How to find the right tool

Pick the converter that matches what you have and what you need: HEIC → JPG for iPhone photos that won't open on Windows; MOV → MP4 or M4A → MP3 for Apple video and audio that other apps reject; compress JPG, PNG, or video to hit an email or upload size limit; WebP and AVIF tools to move between modern, smaller web formats and universally compatible ones. Most tools accept whole folders at once and return a ZIP. If you're not sure why a format is giving you trouble, the Learn section explains the common ones in plain language.
